We went to Disneyland yesterday, so today we thought we should take it easy and do something more relaxing. I planned to go for the Ngong Ping 360, which is a long cable car ride to the giant Buddha. But this was the weather when we woke up.
What the heck man, is this rain ever going to stop?? The cable car ride would be awesome, but after that? Somehow I wasn't too thrilled about walking up a billion steps in the rain to see the giant Buddha. If it's just 2 adults, maybe. But to drag 2 kids along? Agrh.. no thanks. So we will be going to The Peak today instead.
There's a MacDonald's right across our hotel so breakfast is settled! I ALWAYS make an effort to eat MacDonald's breakfast whenever I come Hong Kong.
Their sausage egg mcmuffin with cheese is made from pork instead of turkey, and it is so much more delicious loh!! After breakfast we went back to our hotel and enjoyed the comforts of the room. Many people like to spend as much time outside as they can while they are overseas. Going out is fun, but chilling out in the hotel room can be awesome too! Just relaxing in bed, watch tv, surf web is our idea of a holiday too! So we just hung out in the room until it was time to go for lunch, and we have plans!
We travelled all the way out of town to Yuen Long to eat Cobby's favourite BEEF NOODLES!!
This is another stop we never miss whenever we come to HK. (spot Jayden napping in his stroller)
Best beef noodles ever! We ordered the brisket this time round and it was awesome.. The meat was tender and the soup divine.. You soak the crispy fish skin in the soup before you eat it. So good!
And my favourite, 炸大肠, which is fried big intestines.. yums..
After lunch we made our way to The Peak. We've can't remember if we've even been there before during the day, so we thought it would be nice to check it out. You can go to The Peak via the boring MTR and taxi, or take a bus. But we're tourists! Let's go via the most inconvenient and yet spectacular way, The Star Ferry.
I always enjoyed taking the ferry across the sea. It's relaxing and picturesque, reminds me that I'm on holiday. :)
It was pretty gloomy the weather, and it started to drizzle just as we arrived at the tram station. There were giant posters of Madame Tussauds there and we thought, why not? It's raining anyway. So we bought the tickets and up the mountain we went!
It was already 4pm+ when we got up, so we decided to have some tea break 1st. Lucky us we got a seat next to the window! Nice view!
Madame Tussauds was more fun than we expected! There were figures of those we've seen before, but there were also many new ones! We had alot of fun running about, taking photos with characters that we like. We took SO MANY photos, here are just some of them!
We had a really fun time, but it was quite crowded. Some tourists were very noisy and irritating. One even pushed me even when I was carrying Jayden! How dare you! I shouted loudly at him, "EH, WHY ARE YOU PUSHING ME??" 没死过.. and he immediately backed off, apologizing. But other than that, we had alot of fun. :)
We wanted to have dinner at one of the restaurants at The Peak, but it was still early when we got out. So we decided to go down the mountain instead and have dinner at one of the recommended restaurants. Sigh~ It turned out to be a bad idea. The food was mediocre and boring. What a disappointing dinner. Guess you can't trust everything they say online!
It was getting late, so I thought we could just take a cab back to the hotel. Turns out that taxis on the Hong Kong side don't know the way in Kowloon, so we ended up taking the MTR back. Thankfully it was 3 stops! It was already around 9.30pm by the time we got back. Funny how we planned to have a relaxing day but ended up going to so many places!
I'm sure if the kiddos weren't around we could do even more. But I'm glad they were there and I can't wait to see what else we can do tomorrow.
