Jayden's 1st haircut

Well, his VERY FIRST haircut is on the day of his full month. Subsequently i did trim his hair abit. But this is the very 1st time I brought him to a professional!

I never had to cut Jolie's hair till she was about 1-2 years old! Aiyah boys so mafan.. Just a little bit long and everybody's starting to comment why we never cut his hair. Honestly, I can't bear to cut his hair. His hair is one one my favorite things that I absolutely adore about him! It's soft, yet firm enough to defy gravity. Everytime I smell his head, his hair would tickle my nostrils. He's so soft and fluffy! :)

But even I thought that it's getting a bit long, so we went to those $10 barber, saving me the stress of cutting his hair. Boy was I wrong!

First, i don't really know how I want her to cut. I've never brought a boy to the hairdresser!! So I just stupidly said short but not too short? Then, Jayden would not stop staring at the hairdresser. He's face is like, "woah lady, what do you think you are doing with those scary things in your hand!?".

Next comes the fidgeting. When she's about to cut, I had to hold his head still, which made him even more mad. So the screaming started. Sigh, in the end we only managed to get a lame ass trim. MIL said that they would get used to it after a few times. Hopefully it would be better then. Meanwhile, this is Tang Jr.'s new haircut. :p

Water park @ SSC

We live very near to Sembawang Shopping Centre, only less than 5min drive. We know that there's a water park at the roof top but we never play there before. Guess we were just thinking that it's so mafan to wash up afterwards. But last Sunday afternoon, I suggested that we give it a go.

It was such a beautiful day and I hate to waste it away indoors. But Cobby had an assignment to do and Jayden had to take a afternoon nap. By the time we all were ready to go out, it was already late afternoon.

It just seemed perfect timing to let Jolie play at the watet park for awhile before we have dinner there, since its so near. I have to watch Jayden, so Cobby would have to be the one to play with Jolie.

It was more fun than we expected. The weather was warm and sunny, the water was cooling. Father and daughter had a real good time. Even jayden had fun, I carried him and let him touch the cool jets of water. It's great to hear his squeals of laughter, a good break from all the worries and tummy upsets from his constipation problem. But only for awhile, tired sia carrying him! It's like running around with a bag of rice!

All in all, great fun, not the most sanitary, but hey, its free! When Jayden starts walking, the whole family can join in. :)

Serene's Wedding

After 13 years, my two old friends, Serene and Benny have finally decided to tie the knot. You can imagine my joy!

Well we've waited long enough. Coming and going and coming back together again, got a flat, housewarming, got a dog that they lovingly call their "son"... Can't blame them for procrastinating. Life was getting a little comfortable! But after much nagging from the parents, they finally picked a date. I seldom get so excited about a wedding dinner, but apart from the fact that I was looking forward to meet my friends, it's been AGES since I get to dress up and go out at night. Sob..sob.. I HAVE NO LIFE!

Drama aside, Mom had agreed to help watch Jayden for the night. And since Jolie was big enough to attend dinner with us, we finally got the opportunity to let Jolie wear her Princess gown my sis bought from HK DISNEY. She looked like a real princess! Haha we looked a little under dressed as compared to her.

Serene invited us old pals to attend her ROM by the poolside in the early evening too. We were nearly late, but was saved by Cobby's brand new GPS navigator's smart guidance. Good job! :) Ting Ting and I felt a little emo during the ceremony...

After that, there was still some time before the dinner, so Ting Ting and us headed to the cafe and enjoyed a little tea and delicious cakes! (No pics as my phone was charging in the car)

At the cocktail reception, we had alot of fun at the photo booth!

Dinner was good, very generous portions, unfortunately we were full before the 9 course dinner was complete due to our teatime! Haha oops! I was actually very sleepy halfway through, guess it's been too long since we went out at night. Jolie took a short nap in the afternoon, but even at 10pm+ she was full of energy! Where did all that energy come from?!

Besides, I was missing my baby boy. Wondering how is he and if he was missing me too? I just missed holding him as he falls asleep, so was a little sad when Mom called to report that he was already in bed.

I wanted to leave early as its way pass jolie's bedtime, but Cobby said that we should at least wait for the photoshoot with the bride and groom. We were one of the last few tables!! It was a long wait, but we were right next to the live band and we had fun dedicating songs and singing old Jacky Cheung songs. Like karaoke! After taking the photo we bade farewell and went home. It was a happy day. Congratulations Serene and Benny!

Racial Harmony Day 2013

It's Racial Harmony Day again and this year it's the 1st time Jolie's celebrating in her new school.

As usual, nearing this date many people would suggest that she wear the Korean hanbok that my sis bought from Korea awhile back. I never could understand that. Aren't you suppose to wear the traditional outfit of YOUR ethnic group? We are not Koreans, why wear a hanbok??

Like the teachers at her playgroup, her Chinese teachers were dressed up in Indian outfits. Nice, but... but... but...why?

Anyway, I stuck to my principles and let Jo wear her Chinese New Year outfit. I think she looks lovely. Like her playgroup, parents were asked to bring some "traditional snacks". But unlike the playgroup, parents were not invited to join in! Hmph...

So I had to think of a snack thats:

1. Kids friendly

2. Not too big portion cuz other parents bringing food too

3. Traditional

In the end I bought a box of kueh bangkit from Bengawan Solo. Perfect! But after school Jolie told me that they didn't even get to eat the kueh bangkit cause there was too much food. But since I didn't get my biscuits back, I guess the teachers and staff "makan" already loh...

With each passing year I can see how much she has grown. Last year she still looks a little kiddy. This year she looks like a little lady. Did i ever mention that she's four years old but she's the size of a 6 year old!? Yah. But because of this I think I sometimes expect too much from her.

I think I expect her to behave like a 6 year old, which is quite unfair for her, so I occasionally have to remind myself that she's only 4 and thus should be allowed to act like one.

Sigh soon her toddler years would be behind her. When did my baby girl grow up!?

Jolie's Song

I had a memory of when I was little, I like to make up songs of my own. One time I was singing a song to my stuff dolls in my room, not knowing that my faher, sister and brother behind the door, listening. When I was finished they came in, cheering. I just remembered being quite embarrassed. Now my little girl loves to make up songs too. If you hear the lyrics, they can be so sweet...

Jayden learns to crawl

Jayden has been attempting to crawl for a few weeks now. Each time he leans forward but I guess he's a little fearful to actually move forward. Guess what was the final motivation that made him take the leap and crawl forward?

Going downstairs

Now that Jayden knows how to sit up, I think its time to put back the footrest on Jolie's tricycle. So I dug out the parts from all over the house and presto! We can go out now

Of course we can use the pram, but somehow the tricycle seems more fun and less of a hassle. So Jolie would speed away on her bicycle while we trail slowly behind. Jayden is new to this so I don't want to frighten him. Besides, he likes to stand up when the tricycle is moving, so I think it's safer to move slowly.

I find it quite funny that poor Jayden have to use Jolie's hand-me-down toys such as this very pink tricycle. Haha... given his young age, I don't think he'll even remember this. Haha.. looking back Jolie was so happy when she 1st sat in it, just like he does now.

Anyway, going downstairs has turned out to be even more challenging with 2 kids. I have to prepare dinner way before, when Jolie is in school and Jayden is taking a nap. Which also means I have to forgo my precious nap time, so that I can bring the kids down in the late afternoon.

But to see their faces is priceless. Rather than sitting in front of the tv, Jolie is running around and having fun. And Jayden observing the neighborhood is fun to watch!

I really want to do this every day. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury. Also, I don't have the energy to do this so often. But it gets better day by day as Jayden slowly grows bigger.

Watching Jayden, I'm always reminded of how Jolie used to be. That sweet little baby girl had grown up so fast that I didn't even realize it. So now, I try my very best to treasure jayden's babyhood before he too, grows up too fast.

Jolie's Nest

One evening while hanging out in our study room Jolie started to collect toys, blanket and sitting on the whole pile of stuff. Puzzled, I asked her what is she doing!? She explained that she was making her nest and started to make the most adorable noise, "hmm!hmm!hmm!" like a little chick.

She can do the most surprising and adorable things!

Jolie's Lullaby

We noticed that Jayden seemed to like listening to his sister sing! He would always go quiet whenever she sing his favourite lullaby.

Angry Bird - The Experience

June holidays are here! And Marina Square organized an Angry Bird event. Even though Jolie doesn't know how to play, she's a big fan of those silly birds. So when she saw the life size Angry Bird game, she was super excited and kept pestering us to play.

As expected, you need to spend at least $30 first, which was perfect as I wanted to buy a jacket for Jayden anyway. It's so easy to splurge when it comes to kids stuff. Before I know it, I've spent more then $50.

Back to the Angry Bird game. So like the game, you gotta slingshot the bird from a catapult to hit the pigs. Well, I helped jolie, but we only got 1 pig. :p But the staff was quite nice and made jolie feel good about her shot, so she was happy. I think that was what any parent wanted anyway right. To see the delighted smile of your child.

So we hung around, took pictures, did some colouring, etc. It was quite fun as Jayden was being very good, sitting in his stroller most of the time. Making noise only when he needed his milk milk...

We planned an early dinner so that we could beat the crowd, so we went to Heng Heng Curry House. It was all going well until we waited for more than half an hour for a bowl and curry and a plate a noodles. What the hell man?

I got really pissed when it turned out that they forgot to key in our order!!! I mean, there's a difference between slow service and having totally forgotten my order!!! The manager was apologetic and gave us the food immediately, plus a complimentary lemongrass ice jelly. I wanted to be mad, but it was difficult when the food was so delicious!!

My chicken curry was rich, creamy and delicious. Jolie munched down her fried chicken cutlet with noodles. Cobby's chilli mackerel was spicy and yummy! After the meal, the free ice jelly was perfect in cleansing the palette and dousing the flames! I love the lemongrass fragrance in the jelly. Yums! Darn, how to be mad at them like that? After dinner we still went for ice cream! (I didn't eat hor) A good way to end a good day.

My Little Gym Mid Term Showcase June 2013

Cobby and I thought it was just another gym class, but apparently it was their Mid Term Showcase! (he forgot) Usually I would be hanging out at home with Jayden while Cobby send Jolie to gym class. Thankfully, by pure coincidence, I decided to drop Jayden off at Mom's place early today and join Cobby and Jolie. So, lucky lucky!

We took alot of videos and photos, but these were the bests. :)

Always so proud that my Jolie is so fearless. It's also a joy to see her having so much fun. Every week she would look forward to class, so I think it's money well spent.

Buggy Board

Bought something new.

Well, not really new, it's second hand. I think this is one of the very few items IN MY LIFE that's second hand. But it's in good condition! Conceptually, it's a great product. Jolie is always fighting with her baby brother on who gets to sit in the stroller. With this new addition, Jolie can now stand at the back while her brother sit in the front. Everybody's happy! Well, except for the poor adult pushing.

1. It made our stroller difficult to manoeuvre. Our Maclaren stroller is like the BEST. It's agile and can easily manoeuvre out of any tight corner or rough terrain. But with the attached Buggy Board, somehow the weight of the toddler on the board made it very hard to turn. Many times we had to bang around and kick the wheel a couple of times before it can turn.

2. It's damn heavy! With the extra person standing at the back, the stroller is now more heavy to push around. Can you imagine going up slope?

3. It's noisy. It's supposed to have a rope that hold up the board when not in use. Unfortunately the person selling it can't find it anywhere, so it's super noisy, especially when going over uneven flooring. So embarrassing!

Even with the disadvantages, it's still effective when you want to move both children quickly from point A to point B. I use it to sent Jolie to school everyday, except when it's raining. Good workout too.

Karate Jolie

Jolie has been very into a new cartoon called The Amazing World of Gumball. It's a very silly cartoon and sometimes violent. But even I love it. It reminds me of the Simpsons. With a very dumb Dad, a smart Mom, silly kids with alot of silly tantics. Sometimes, the show ends with a good lesson on morals, friendship and family values. Sometimes only... Overall it's just good laughs!!!

After watching one episode on Taekwondo, she began to do all sorts of Taekwondo moves herself.

Double trouble

Took both kids to see the Pediatrician this morning. Jo has been coughing quite badly while Jay has not slept well for 2 nights in a roll cause he hasn't pooped for 2 days. I can't function like this! Caring for the little one at night at waking up at 7 plus in the morning for the big one. It's tough.

So its the usual suspect for Jo, a bad cold with coughing and runny nose. Doc wants me to record down everytime I give her the Ventolin cause she wanna know if her lungs are developing well. Ok... another thing to add to my to-do list.

For Jay, the doc used a Q-tip to wiggle wiggle inside his anus. Didn't work, so in the end had to resort to using a "bullet". Well, there was alot of screaming, but it got Jay pooping before we left the Doc's office. So that's great. Can tell that he felt better after the poop. He's so quiet and peaceful in his harness, and was asleep even before we got into a taxi.

2 kids, double the joy, but also double and headache when they are not well. (Not forgetting double the medical bill! ) But the relief of seeing your child feel better is truly priceless.

That afternoon both Mama and baby finally could take a good long nap! Zzz...

Mother's Day 2013

Happy Mother's Day! This year my Mom would be spending Mother's Day in Hong Kong. Her friends from her Chinese Opera class would be going there and Mom would be playing tour guide to a whole bunch of aunties. So I just gave her a nice fat ang bao so that she can have some extra cash while out shopping with her friends. :)

Over here in Singapore, we wanted to try somewhere different, so I decided on Min Jiang at Rochester Park. I love Peking Duck! So let's see how good they claimed they were!

The restaurant looks very cosy with nice Chinese deco. They have outdoor seating and the weather that night was quite nice, but the practical side of me can't help but imagine hundreds of blood thirsty mosquitoes lurking around the thick bushes surrounding the tables outside, waiting for their next meal. Forget it, we'll enjoy the view from inside, thanks.

As expected, the menu was posh, decadent and expensive. We ordered dishes like their famous Peking Duck and sweet and sour Kurobuta pork among others. The Peking Duck was delicious! Before we get to eat the typical wraps, the chef actually slice off skin from the neck and instructed us to eat with sugar!?? Strange, but when we tried it, it tasted awesome! The fatty crispy skin really goes very well with sugar! How strange..

The Peking Duck wraps came 2 styles – combined with leek, cucumber and sweet sauce; as well as combined with Tientsin cabbage, radish, garlic paste and sweet sauce. I like both, but the one with the garlic paste was really nice. As you can imagine, the dishes were all very rich and heavy, so, in the beginning we were gorging down the food while singing praises, but after a short while, we were struggling to finish the food! Haha, shouldn't have ordered so much.

The next day, which was the actual day, we spent a day at home, chilling out. I even got to do something that I haven't done for ages, which was to bake! Yeah! I've got the craving for a moist chocolate cupcake for ages ever since I've tasted those at Tweleve Cupcakes. So I got to do some baking that afternoon while Cobby watch the kids and I was so happy. For details of the bake, read this.

In the evening, after I've had my fill in the kitchen, we decided to go easy on our system, so we tried Vegan Burg for our Mother's Day dinner.

Well, it sure wasn't Burger King, but the food wasn't too bad. But it was quite expensive for a meal without an ounce of meat! Haha...

This year we have a new member to our little family. I've been promoted to Mother of TWO now, and life is not easy. There were days where I question why I even have kids. Jolie tests my patience EVERYDAY and Jayden cuts my rest time to, well, nil. But like everything in life, there are good sides too. Jayden is such a lovable and adorable baby, and not very difficult to manage. Jolie is growing more and more beautiful everyday and she's got the wits to match her looks! Just when you reached rock bottom, she would say the sweetest things that make all the crap worthwhile. So I just need to focus on the good things and enjoy these precious years before they grow up.

Mama love you my babies! :)

Jayden's 1st swing

5 month old Jayden goes on the swing for the very 1st time. He seemed to like it alot! Meanwhile his sister "video-bombs" him at the back.

Tuesday, 2 April 2013

5 months old Jayden

Another month has come and gone and we're at the Paediatrician again for the immunization. 7.8kg 69cm. Jayden is growing consistently at the 75th percentile and everything seemed to be in order. Traditionally we should be introducing solids at 5 months, but I've been reading that the WHO has revised that guidelines and encouraging mothers to wean their babies at 6 months instead. Well, who am I to argue with the WHO right? Anyway, I'm happy to continue feeding as long as I can. On top of our bonding time, breastfeeding has really been great in helping me stay slim! I can eat anything I want and still stay the same size. Sweet!! Besides, Dr Ang said that Jayden was growing very well, so that means that my breastmilk is sufficient to sustain his growth.

Behaviour wise, he's becoming a real pain. Pain on my shoulder! About a month ago he started his clingy stage. And boy is he clingy! Right now the people allowed to carry him, according to the length of time would be:
1. Me aka mama
2. My Mom aka popo
3. My Dad aka gong gong
4. My Husband aka papa
5. My Mother-in-law aka ah mah

It's so strange! When he was an infant he would love to be carried by his Ah Mah. But now, he would only allow a few minutes before his lips pout, his eyes turn red and the inevitable wail that follows. So on an average weeknight at home, I would shower Jolie while Cobby give Jayden a bath. After Jolie's done it would be my turn to shower, so Jayden would scream and cry in his father's arms all the way until I come out of the shower.

When he see me come out of the shower he would desperately stretch out both his arms, tears, snot and saliva all over his face, willing me to carry him. What a pitiful sight! Sigh, but this is the only way.

Another shift in behaviour would be the way he sleeps. During the 1st few months, he would sleep and nap fine, but suddenly, he decided that he doesn't like the way things are done, so the moment we put him down to nap during the day, he would wake up crying. We were in a fix for awhile as we struggled to find a way to make him nap. Somedays I would be so tired I would cry in frustration and exhaustion! But one day I just tried something different and made him hug a boaster to nap. Hoho! It worked like a charm! I quickly taught my Mom this trick and the rest was blissful history.

Its still quite a struggle caring for two kids, everyday I feel like I'm neglecting my baby girl, who has been a really sweet sister but attitude wise getting from bad to worse. I know she's just trying to get my attention, but it's the negative attention she's getting. I'm screaming at her more and it made me really sad sometimes because I used to be so close to her. So whenever I can I try to make it up to her by showering her with more love and kisses. Cobby and I also try to go out with her alone once in awhile to make her feel special. Hopefully she won't feel too neglected.

Everyday is a challenge and when it comes to kids, the only constant is change. Hopefully I can rise up and deal with it with grace. hopefully...

Sassy mouth

Jolie is reaching an age where, sometimes, I don't know how to react to the thibgs she says. Sometimes I don't know if I want to be mad or laugh out loud at the things she say.

She's also very bossy and would always lecture the adults, even when she's wrong! That really pisses me off sometimes. Like the other day, she opened the window while we were in the taxi. I scolded her and asked her not to do that it was raining. In response, (grumble, grumble, grumble. ...)"...mama! Why you make me so mad!!" -_-

I think she learnt to speak like that because of me. When she's lecturing people, she sounded just like me when I'm lecturing her. I know people would say things like "you should be mindful of what you say in front of a child... blah blah blah..." But how!? She's always pushing my buttons with the things she say. Like shouting at her elders, screaming that we were not listening when she's the one who doesn't listen. She would talk angrily and rudely, I would lecture her like any parent would, and in turn she would learn and lecture everyone else, including me. Then I would lecture her again. It's like a vicious cycle! Ahh! I always think back on how quiet and timid I was as a child and wonder why she's not like me. Back then, even if you are right, you keep quiet because you respect your elders! Now, even elders have to give in to this bossy, outspoken little princess no matter how much I lecture and nag. Sigh! But I guess being an outspoken person isn't a bad thing right? :P

There were also moments where she would melt our hearts, like she would whisper "I love you mama" when you least expected it, and it would make us go "awww..." My favorites ones are when she would present us with the strangest love tokens. Just as I was posting this, Jo came out of her room and presented a toy hotdog for her dad and said "papa, I give you this hotdog because I love you." Cobby was so amused and touched and boasted to me, "see? I got hotdog. You have or not? Don't have right? Haha!" Only a parent can appreciate the importance of receiving a masak hotdog from a 4 year old girl...

To wrap things up, a scene from the movie The Back Up Plan always stuck in my mind, as it is a perfect balance of funny and realistic description of parenthood. watch.

Jayden's 1st trip to the zoo

It's Jolie's school holiday, so we planned to go to the zoo. She actually wanted to go to the Bird Park, but just so happen that Cobby had sent the car to be repainted, so we had to take public transport. I was nervous about traveling too far with jayden in toll, so I suggested that we go to the zoo instead.  After all, I haven't seen the Pandas yet!

So with 2 bags, one baby and one toddler, we were off! Im sure Jayden wouldn't sit in his pram, so we opt for the baby harness instead. It turned out to be a great choice as Cobby got to carry Jayden without him screaming his head off. In fact, he even dozed off a few times while we strolled along.

The weather was SOOOOO hot! Most of the animals were either napping or hiding from the afternoon sun. The pandas were adorable as expected,  even when sleeping. I love Pandas! Kaikai was napping outside in the most cute position while shy Jiajia napped in the comforts of her room. If I wasn't there with the kids, I would have bought ALL the souvenirs! So cute!

After lunch its so hot, so we headed to the water play area and let Jolie go crazy. If it wasn't for Jayden,  I would have jumped in too! But I had to breastfeed, so I just watched with envy! After awhile the lifeguards chase everyone out of the water due to lightning fears. Cobby was secretly glad as he was worried how to get her to leave the place! Haha...

It was threatening to rain, so we headed to the exit. Just as expected,  it started to pour as we waited for a taxi. It was more like a freaking thunderstorm! Kids were screaming as the thunder and lightning tore up the sky and the rain poured down like mad.

Thankfully we didn't wait long before getting a cab. So we headed home, tired but glad. Think about it, we didn't do much, but 5-6hours had just went by. Think its like that when you have kids. Everything takes longer to get done! But important thing is that Jolie had fun. Jayden? Don't think he bothered. Haha... perhaps he'll enjoy it more in another few more years.

Jolie Princess

Time flies. Our little Jolie Princess is 4 years old this year. I remembered that my parents used to worry if she would end up being a 'tom boy' as she didnt like to wear dresses or skirts, didn't like to tie her hair and loves activities such as soccer, skateboard,  scooter and anything involving running, climbing and jumping.
Well, she still loves to do all of those stuff that would give her grandma a heart attack, but she has also developed a softer, more girlie side. Now she loves to wear dresses, tie her hair and like many girls her age, has developed a Princess obsession.

She loves to dress up like a Princess, so she would tie a blanket around her waist, wear grown up heels and parade around, announcing that she is a beautiful princess. She loved to wear make up too! I don't let her wear mine cause I think its bad for her skin, but both her doting grandmas would let her. -_- So she would stand in front of the dresser and pat pat pat her face with the puff. She doesn't put much, you can't see any make up actually, but she would pose and fish for compliments after she finish.

My mom, being the doting grandma, even bought some fabric and made her 2 skirts so that she can play dress up. Jolie was ecstatic, and after awhile, came up with in idea to wear one and put the other on her head and pretended to have beautiful long pink hair. Funny!

It's strange isn't it? How girls would just naturally develop this vain streak. Now even at home she would demand to wear her pretty dresses, knowing full well that everyone would gasp in adoration,  exclaiming how pretty she look. It may seem silly, but if it makes her happy, why not? Besides, they grow up so fast, before long, they would have outgrown their dresses and outgrow their innocent obsessions too. I say let them play dress up, cause I'll be sad the day they find it silly.

Holiday Baking class!

I didn't want Jolie to just sit around the house the whole week, so I signed up Jolie and I for a baking class. We could always bake at home, but I thought it would be a great opportunity for Jolie and I to spend some quality time alone outside the house and away from Jayden.

We found out about the class from the SmartKids exhibition and I was sold when they told me that one of the locations was at Sembawang Shopping Centre. So near my home! Perfect! So on Wednesday I got my mom to come over to watch Jayden while Jolie and I headed out.

When we got there they dressed us up in aprons and the kids even got a baker's hat! So cute! Wished they would provide one for me too but its only for kids. :P envious... There was 11 people in class, including us and most of them were in pairs of Mommy and daughter or sisters. Only one little girl came alone. Wonder why aren't there any boys interested in baking?

Anyway the cute little girl next to us came alone, so we chat with her and Jolie immediately made another friend. :)

The class was quite fun and the recipe was quite simple, but it took longer then expected and I got a little stressed as I didn't know if Jayden's alright with my Mom. But I thought, there's nothing I could do anyway, so I just tried to enjoy myself and have fun with my Jolie. Nearing the end of the class I noticed the Daddies hoovering outside the classroom window, and I quietly wished that Cobby could join us too. Unfortunately he had to work, so we just have to do something else together another time.

I would definitely recommend this class to little kids and parents! It's fun and best of all, we didn't have to clean up after that. Hahaha... After lunch we headed home and I found my mom asleep in Jayden's room. Turned out that Jayden did give mom a hard time, so I felt a little guilty. But at the same time felt very grateful to have spent a few hours with my girl, definitely worth it.

Check it out! Genius R Us

Everyone's got problems

When I was a little girl, I would sometimes wish that I was a bird. (A sparrow specifically, they're cuter.) Somehow it seems like life is easier being a little bird. No school, no homework, no chores, just flying around freely. How nice!

When I grow up I realized that even cute little birdies have problems too. They too have to stress about finding food, mate, caring for their young and on top of that, try not to get eaten by a cat. So I guess everyone's got their own set of problems.

I invite alot of envy when people know that I'm a stay home mom. Yes, undeniably, its awesome that I get to be with my babies and be there to watch them grow. But it really piss me off when some envy me for not needing to "work". I work all day and all night. I cook, clean and care for my kids and husband. I work all the time ok.

I don't mind really, but I in turn really envy those working moms. Its like they get the best of both worlds. They get to use their brains and work, hang out with friends and at the end of the day, enjoy time with their kids. But I understand that sometimes it really sucks to be at work too. Hey, I've been there.

Last time, before kids, when the weeks fly by quickly, I would sometimes get this panic in my belly. It would feel like my life's passing by and I'm wasting it away doing stupid meaningless admin work. I would think that maybe I should do something interesting like bungee jumping or something.  Now, the panicky feeling is gone. Instead, I would feel good at the end of a week. I've survived another week and the end result is that my 2 beautiful babies are happy, healthy and 1 week older.

What I'm trying to say is that everyone's got problems. Nobody's life is better or worse than the other. I guess we just have to focus on the good stuff.

Jayden at 4 months

The other day I was outside throwing rubbish when a neighbour saw me carrying Jayden in my arms. She asked if he's 2months yet. Huh? He's already 4 months! She was surprised and commented how time flies as it felt not long ago since I gave birth to Jayden.

When I got back into the house I reflected on how true her comment was. It does seemed like Jayden was born not too long ago, and its amazing how 4 whole months just fly by like that. 4 months! That's more than a quarter of a year gone!!

I was so busy juggling 2 kids that I didn't even have time to blog. Now my number 1 priority are my kids and sleeping became my number 2 priority. So any decision making would be made based on those rules. For example:
should I do the chores or sleep? Sleep.
Should I blog or sleep? Sleep.
So explains my lack of updates... sounds boring but its the means to survival people!

But I do thank my lucky stars to be blessed with this bundle of joy as my 2nd kid. Because apart from the usual challenges of taking take of a normal baby, he is considered a very easy baby as compared to his sister. I'll talk about that more in future posts. Now a quick update of his status.

Jayden's 1st turn

Jayden has been trying to turn over for 1 or 2 weeks already. Like her sister Jolie, there was alot of NG, but unlike her sister, he only took a few trys before he successfully flip over and pulled out his arm. Jolie took a long while before she figured out how to pull out her trapped arm after turning over. See her old videos here.

I thought that Jayden turned over earlier, but turns out that they were about the same time, around 3 months plus. Sigh, another milestone reached for baby number two! Yeah!

Looking back at Jolie's videos, can't help but feel surreal and nostalgic. Can't imagine, Jolie used to be this helpless little baby! Now look at her, practically a little lady already. Probably I'll feel the same way 4 years later when I look back at Jayden's old videos. Also, my camera video was so crappy! Haha...
